My Dinh National Stadium

My Dinh National Stadium in Tu Liem district, Hanoi is the central and most important construction of Vietnam’s National Sports Complex . It was firstly built to serve Sea Games 22 and the 2nd ASEAN Para  Games and then meeting the requirements of long-term use according to planning of  Committee of Physical Education and Sports of Vietnam and Hanoi capital. The stadium was taken over in mid-August 2003 after 2 year construction.

– The stadium has a total area of 17.5 ha with one main courtyard and 2 training grounds

– The main courtyard has a capicity of 40,192 seats (450 VIP seats and 160 seats for journalists). All of them are plastic chairs imported from France. The two main grandstands A and B were set up arched roofs.

-The main courtyard is multi-functional stadium: football ground has a size of 105 m x 68 m that could be used for  athletics competiton with 8 way curve run has length of 400 m and 10 straight line running has length of 110 m, 2 high jump pitchs, 2 weight throw pitch, pole vault, hammer throw, 2 zones of double pole vault, two zones of double long jump.

-The stadium comprises 4 grandstands: the western and eastern grandstands have 2 storeys,25.5 m high; the northern and southern grandstands has 1 storey, 8.4 m high.

– There are 419 multi-use rooms around the stadium

– The lighting system includes 355 bulbs arranged in 4 collumns of 54 m in height.

– The roof of the stadium weighs 2,300 tons, aperture of156m and diameter of 1.1 m.

– The lump-sum expenditure costs USD 52.983 million.

– Architectural design: Australian corporations

– The national stadium was built by the HISD-China, the general contractor and 4 other Vietnamese subcontractors.
