How to get Vietnam visa in Australia

Except for a transit purpose, the Australian citizens are required to hold a visa before entering Vietnam to do tourist or business activities. Having a well awareness of the visa process helps ensure that you are not left with an unexpected surprise at the last minute. So please take your time and read our instructions on how to get a Vietnam visa in Australia.

There are 3 ways of applying for the Vietnam visa for Australians passport holders

1. Apply online for visa on arrival

2. Apply personally at an embassy/consulate

2. Apply for an electronic visa

Online application

This is now the preferred method as it’s easier, faster, and cheaper. Furthermore, you don’t have to send off the passport to lodge the application. Nevertheless, it can only be used for travelers arriving by air. If you schedule to enter Vietnam by land or sea, then you must visit the embassy/consulate to arrange the visa for Vietnam in Australia.

The online visa process is straightforward. You complete an online application form and pay the visa fee with a credit/debit card via Onepay/Paypal. After 48 business hours, an approval letter signed by immigration will be sent to your email address. The approval is sufficient for you to board the plane and get a visa stamp at any of the Vietnamese international airports. The detailed process is described in 4 steps as below:

Step 1: Fill out the  application form online at http://www.vietnamvisa-easy.com/apply. You can apply for 10 persons at a time. Select Rush Visa Service if you would like your approval to be delivered in one day.

Note: The online application form is only used for tourist visa requests. The application for Vietnamese business visa must be submitted by emailing the passport copy and travel date to support@vietnamvisa-easy.com.

Step 2: Pay visa fee online with credit/debit card via Onepay/Paypal or Western Union. The Vietnam visa fee varies depending on the type of visa and processing time. Typical processing time for a tourist visa is 2 working days and a business visa is 3-5 working days. An additional fee is required for rush service

Step 3: Receive visa approval and an entry-exit form. Check the accuracy of approval and fill out the entry/exit as per request. Then print them out.

Step 4: Show approval to board the plane. Upon arrival, you show it again in a separate queue at customs with a valid passport, 01 passport photo, completed entry-exit form, and stamping fee in USD/VND (cash only) to receive the visa stamp. Stamping fee for single entry is $25, single entry for multiple entry is $50, stamping fee for 6-month multiple entry is $95, and for 1-year multiple is $135. Read stamping assistance service to know how to get the visa stamp quickly.

Paper application via embassy/consulate

You can also apply for the visa through the Vietnam embassy/consulate in Australia but fees are normally high and processing can be slow. Vietnam established one embassy and two consulates in Australia. A standard application lodged at embassy/consulate often includes the following documents:

• A completed application form (download here)
• A valid and original passport
• 01 passport-sized photo
• Self-addressed return envelope: only needed when you apply in person. One envelop can be used for several applicants.
• If you request a business visa, one of the two following documents is required: Approval letter from the immigration department arranged by your business partner in Vietnam or invitation letter of the partner.
• Visa fee: should be paid by money order, cheque (for postal application), or cash (for in-person application). Please be noted that only Australian dollars accepted.

Note: The embassy opens from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (Monday-Friday). You don't need to make an appointment for placing the visa application.
