How to get Vietnam visa in Honolulu,United States

It’s the first time you have traveled to Vietnam and you are a little bit confused with the immigration issue? Here we are and willing to advise you on where, when and how to get a Vietnam visa in Honolulu. 

Since the visa becomes effective from date of entry shown in application, you are allowed to apply for the visa up to 6 months in advance of the trip; but we do not advise you make it too early because your circumstances could change in the meantime. It’s ideal to submit application within 1 month before you go. 

Vietnam visa validity refers to period of time you are permitted to stay in Vietnam. You can travel anytime while the visa is valid, not earlier the entry date shown on the visa.

For example: You obtain a 3-months tourist visa with validity starts from September 3rd, 2017 till December 3rd, 2017. If you enter the country on the 3rd of September, you have full 90 days stay. In another case, you make the travel later on 5rd of October, so you will be granted a stay of 58 days only.

Important note: Vietnam tourist visa and Vietnam business visa are valid for up to one year. With long-term tourist visas (valid from 6 months to 1 year), you are restricted to stay no longer than 90 days for each entry, but with long-term business visas, you are allowed to remain in the country as long as you want.

1. Embassy or consulate

 

Advantages: 

• Good to use at airport, land port and sea port
• Avoid queues on arrival and pass straight through immigration

 

Disadvantages:
• Slow processing
• Costly

 

Since there is no embassy/consulate opened at Honolulu, the Vietnam visa application for US passport should be mailed to offices of embassy/consulate in Washington, Houston, San Francisco and New York. Requirements include:

• Original passport: valid for at least 1 month after date of exit from Vietnam. If you are traveling by air, make sure your passport has 6 months validity remaining to meet requirements of the airlines.
• Application form: available for download from website of embassy/consulate.
• 01 passport-sized photo: in color, full face, no hats, white background.
• Pre-addressed envelope: for return of passport and visa. Keep the tracking numbers of sending and return envelopes to track your envelopes.
• Visa fee: paid in form of money order, bank cheque or company check, payable to “the Embassy of Vietnam”. The visa fee starts from USD 75 for 1 month single tourist visa. Note: The fee is non-refundable and various among the embassies.
