How to apply?

Before arrival

On arrival

The approval is accepted at all Vietnamese internationals airports. It still works even if you change the arrival airport unexpectedly. At “landing visa” desk of the airport, you are required to present the approval with valid passport, completed entry/exit form, and 01 passport-sized photo. When the visa stamp is ready, the immigration officer will call out your name and payment for stamping before returning the passport. The advantage of getting from embassy is everything is well arranged before arrival so you can go directly to the passport control area. Below are the requirements for a standard application of Vietnam visa for US passport holders:

• Valid original passport 

• Completed application form (the form is available here. You have 15 minutes to fill it out. )

• 01 passport-sized photo taken against white background within the past 6 months. A loose-leaf visa needs 2 photos.

• A prepaid return envelope if you want to receive the visa by mail. One envelope can be used for a group of applicants. For your documents safety, the embassy advises you to use USPS Express Mail, DHL/Express Mail, certified mail or Fedex with the tracking numbers.

• Vietnam visa fee: can be paid by money order, cashier’s check, or company check payable to “Embassy of Vietnam”.

•      The other services such as arrangement of visa approval, expedited processing, shipping will require additional fee.

•      Do not make telephone inquiries on status of your application until after the 3rd business days (standard processing) or 1stbusiness day (expedited processing)

•      No mail can be delivered at the embassy during weekends and holidays.
