How to get Vietnam visa for Nepalese

It can be a challenging to get Vietnam visa for Nepalese because Vietnam Embassy/Consulate is not available in the country currently. To avoid any inconvenience regarding visa application, the Nepalese citizens are recommended to make use of Visa On Arrival facility.

Important note: Visa On Arrival works best at airport of entry only. It’s unhelpful for land border crossing.

How Vietnam visa on arrival works?

1. Apply online at http://www.vietnamvisa-easy.com/apply. You need to fill out the form with information about yourself and intended travel.  Please visit here if you need instructions to complete the form.

Note: You will be asked about purpose of travel (holidays, family visit, business)when completing the form. Just select “Travel purpose” and proceeding with other questions. Vietnam tourist visa is sufficient for both tourism and business purpose. Getting tourist visa for business trip is very normal in Vietnam as the travel purpose is not a big matter to get Vietnam visa from Nepal. If you are visiting Vietnam for transit and don’t intend to leave the airport, then the visa is not required. If you want to take a short city-tour while waiting for the next flight, you need to apply for 1 month single tourist visa. The transit visa (5 days validity) is only granted to group tours organized by travel company.

2. Pay visa fee online. You can pay using credit/debit card, otherwise the application will not be processed. The visa fee is different according to your type of visa and how big your group is. Please look at the table below to check the fee payable for your application:

Although the fee is listed in American dollars, you can make payment with any currency you like. The payment receipt is not provided unless a request is made.

Once the payment is verified, you will receive an email stating that your application is in process and will be completed within 48 hours (standard processing). Please read more Rush Visa Service for information on how to have your application processed on the same day. At any time you can track status of application by using online tracking tool on our site.

3. Receive visa approval. After less than 48 business hours (excluding weekends and national holidays), a scanned copy of visa approval will be delivered to your email with an entry-exit form. You are supposed to print out the letter, complete the form (Filling in the form will help you save much time when picking up visa stamp on arrival) and attach it with 01 passport-sized photo. Before that, spend one minute to check for error on visa approval to make sure the information is correct. The period of your visa validity is also mentioned on the letter. You can use the letter to get visa stamp at any airports of Vietnam (Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh, Phu Quoc) and at any time while the visa is valid.

4. Get visa stamped. Each Vietnam’s airport sets up a Visa On Arrival Window which can be found easily. After getting off the plane, you go straight to the Window and submit your passport, visa approval, and entry-exit form to Immigration Officer.  Then take a seat and wait. The waiting time takes around 10-20 minutes depending on the queue. If you need help to get visa stamped in a flash, you will need Stamping Assistance Service (USD 22/pax). When your name is called, it means that the processing is done. The officer already put a visa sticker inside your passport and now you are requested to pay stamping fee for it. The stamping fee is $25 for single visa and $50 for multiple visa. Please do note that the fee must be paid by CASH either in VN Dong or US Dollars. If you do not bring cash, the officer will escort you to an ATM to withdraw the money. However, it takes an hour until this happens. So the advice here is always having cash in your pocket.

In case you plan to cross the border into Vietnam; it’s best to apply for the visa at Vietnam Embassy/Consulate in our neighboring countries such as Laos, Cambodia because the embassies in these countries are said to be easiest.
