process to get Vietnam visa from Cleveland

Step-by-step guide to get visa on arrival

Step 1. Select visa type

Basically, the immigration officer at port of entry doesn’t ask you about purpose of travel so the tourist visa is good for vacation, family visit and even business. For visits of no longer than 3 months, the tourist visa works well, but if you want to remain in Vietnam more than 90 days, the long-term business visa is highly recommended. To read full details on Vietnam business visa, please refer to this page.

Step 2. Apply online

After selecting the appropriate visa type, you can start filling out the form at http://www.vietnamvisa-easy.com/apply. The form includes questions about your date of birth, full name, passport number, intended date of entry (your visa will be valid from the arrival date specified in the form).  Questions about port of entry and date of exit are optional so you can leave blank if you do not book the flight yet.

Once you finished the form, please use credit/debit card to pay the fee. The application fee is different depending on visa validity and how big your group is. If you request urgent or super-urgent processing, an extra fee is required. Enter here to check the fee and read here if you are interested in Rush Visa Service.

Step 3. Receive visa approval

Regularly, the visa approval is delivered to your email within less than 48 business hours (not include weekends and national holidays). The information you provided in the form will be shown exactly on the letter. You may see information of other people in the letter too. When there are too many Vietnam visa applications for U.S nationals submitted in one day, we will put you into groups to speed up processing so you have to use the same letter with them. If you are not pleasant with this idea; you can request a private letter at time of application (no extra fee).  Besides, you are advised to fill out the attached entry-exit form to save time getting visa stamped on arrival.

Step 4. Get visa stamped on arrival

The visa approval is valid at all Vietnam’s airports (Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh, Phu Quoc). At arrival airport, you are requested to present original passport (valid for at least 6 months), visa approval, entry-exit form and 01 passport photo.  Then give the immigration officer some minutes to check your documents. The waiting time is around 10-20 minutes depending the queue. You may get visa stamp immediately if using Stamping Assistance Service. Before receiving the passport back with a visa stamp inside, you are requested to pay stamping fee ($25 for single visa and $50 for multiple visa). The fee must be paid by CASH in US Dollars or VN Dong. If you forgot to bring the cash, the immigration officer will escort you to the ATM to withdraw the money. However, the officer is not always available for that so you’d better to prepare some cash to avoid any inconvenience.

Get Vietnam visa from Embassy/Consulate

Vietnam Embassy/Consulate is still necessary for those entering Vietnam by land. Because there is no Vietnam Consulate in Cleveland, you have to apply at one of embassies or consulates in Washington, New York, Houston or San Francisco but we advise you to submit application from our neighboring countries such as Laos, Cambodia as the Embassy of Vietnam in these countries offers better price and quicker processing (1-3 business days). The visa application requirements are listed below:

• Original passport: valid for at least 1 month after the visa expiration date. For loose-leaf visa request, submit the passport copy instead.
• Visa application form: complete online and print it out from Immigration Department website
• 01 passport photo: taken within the past 6 months against the white background. If you request the loose-leaf visa, submit one more photo.
• Prepaid return envelope: is necessary if you want the passport to be returned by post. One envelope can be used for group application.
• Vietnam visa fee: is different from embassy to embassy. Cash payment is accepted for in-person application but if you apply by post please make payment with money order, cashier’s check or certified check. Contact with your embassy/consulate for further information

Processing time: 3-5 business days (standard service), 1-2 business days (fast track service, extra fee needed)
