How to get Vietnam visa in Saint Paul,United States

So far, there have been 21 countries participating in the list of Vietnam visa waiver program. The U.S.A is not included in the list. In other words, US visitors must show a visa when entering Vietnam.  To help you keep peace of mind while getting Vietnam visa from Saint Paul, we have collected the most important information in this article. Hope you enjoy it and find it helpful.

Option 1. Deal with embassy or consulate

Whenever mention about visa, we all think about embassy and consulate. Because they are official representative of a country authorized to issue the visa. And the same goes for Vietnam embassy. Since no embassy or consulate is opened in Saint Paul, you are supposed to apply for visa at the nearest consulate office (Washington, Houston, San Francisco, New York). The Embassy/Consulate understands that not everyone has time to submit application in person so they encourage postal applications. In that case, a prepaid envelope must be enclosed for the return of passport. One envelope can be used for many people. Also, you can apply for visa over the internet by sending the color copy of passport and application form to the consulate via email. Don’t forget to provide your reachable phone number as they may contact you over the phone after receipt of application. An application always consists of:

• A valid passport with minimum 6 months validity remaining
• Completed application form (available for download on official website of embassy) attached with 01 recent passport photo
• Appropriate visa fee paid in money order (The fee is non-refundable for any reasons)

The consulate needs 3-5 business days to examine the application before making the decision on it. You can request a rush service by paying additional fee.

Option2. Apply E-visa

E-visa, or electronic visa, was brought into operation since February of 2017 but its popularity has rapidly increased. People love it due to low price and simple process. Before going into further details about operation method of e-visa, we advise you take a look at list of ports allowing e-visa.

How Vietnam e-visa works?

Step 1. Upload your photo and complete application form online.

Step 2. Pay USD 25 non-refundable visa fee with credit card. An application code will be issued after the payment is completed.

Step 3. After 3 business days, check visa result by entering application code, registration email address and date of birth into search menu. Print the visa letter and show it at border to enter/exit Vietnam. You are advised to check accuracy of the e-visa before traveling to avoid being denied at port of entry

We can’t deny the benefits of evisa for Vietnam for US citizens . However, there are some disadvantages that you should notice:

• The extension fee for e-visa is usually more expensive than for visas obtained through embassy or on arrival.
• Processing time cannot less than 3 business days
• E-visa is only valid for 30 days

Option 3. Visa on arrival

When you need a longer visa, or business visa, or urgent Vietnam visa and want it to be cheap and easy for application, Visa On Arrival is recommended. It’s very important to take note that visa on arrival is limited to air entry, which means you cannot receive visa upon arrival if entering the country by land or sea.

The total process of visa upon arrival is described in 4 steps:
