Vietnam visa on arrival for Canadian passport holders
Canadian citizens need a visa to visit Vietnam. There are 3 options to apply for a Vietnam visa for Canadian passport: electronic visa, visa on arrival, and traditional visa. However, in this post, we only focus on introducing the visa on arrival which is both simple and beneficial to holiday and business trips.
Visa on arrival (also known as landing visa) facilities allow travelers to collect the visa stamp at any international airports of Vietnam, which also mean only Canadian people entering Vietnam by air can get the landing visa, more importantly, they must obtain a visa approval letter in advance to qualify for the visa on arrival.
Apply for visa approval
Go to “apply online” to fill out an application form with your personal information and expected travel date. It is not necessary to enter the exact travel date as you are permitted to visit Vietnam anytime in the period of visa validity. Many people just provide their first and last names and skip the middle name. Please make sure you copy the full name from the passport to the form. If you travel to Vietnam to conduct business, submit the passport copy, and travel information to email firstname.lastname@example.org to apply for a business visa approval.
Check the information carefully to prevent any errors before hitting “submit application” and make payment online with your credit/debit card. Bank transfer and Western Union are also accepted. Refer to this page to check Vietnam visa processing fee for Canadian nationals.
In 2-3 business days, the visa approval will be sent to your email along with an entry/exit form. Make an immediate report if you find an error in the approval letter.
Important note: As of July 1st, 2020 international tourists to Vietnam can stay for only 30 days no matter how long their tourist visa is valid. A visa extension is required if the visitor would like to stay longer.
Collect visa stamp
The approval is good to use at all Vietnamese international airports. You should follow the signs to reach the landing visa window. At this place, show your passport, 01 passport copy, completed entry/exit form, visa approval, and wait until your name is called. The waiting time is about 10-15 minutes. Once the visa stamp is ready, the officer will ask you to pay a stamping fee (USD for 25 for single entry visa and USD 50 for multiple entry visa, payable by cash, either USD or VND). You give him the money, he returns you the passport with a payment receipt.
If you wish to collect the visa stamp in a minute, we can arrange the stamping assistance service that costs USD 22 person. You will be greeted by an immigration officer at the arrival gate and this man will complete the stamping procedure for you.
