Vietnam tourist visa exemption

In detail, ordinary passport holders of 16 nations mentioned below are exempted Vietnam tourist visa to enter the country as a tourist for a short duration:

·   Citizens from Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia are granted visa-free access for up to 30 days.

·   Citizens of Philippines are allowed to visit Vietnam for 21 days

·   Citizens from Japan, South Korea, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Russia can enter Vietnam without a tourist visa for 15 days.

·   Citizens of Brunei and Myanmar are exempted Vietnam visa for 14 days.

Passport requirements

Despite visa exemption, the nationals referred to above must present an origin passport valid for at least 6 months prior to arrival date with minimum 2 blank pages left.

Overstaying

You should carefully consider the dates of permitted stay. Staying beyond the period of time authorized is a violation of Vietnamese Immigration Law and will result in consequence that you have to pay a fine which can be very expensive. Therefore, if you intend to travel longer than visa exemption period, you will have to apply for a tourist visa to Vietnam either at Vietnam Embassy in whichever country you are in or through travel agents before arrival.
