Vietnam tourist visa validity

So you are traveling to Vietnam for vacation. Whichever region you plan to visit, we are pretty sure that it will be an amazing trip as Vietnamese people are very good at treating their guests.  However, before booking an air ticket or make hotel reservation, you need to check if you require  a visa for Vietnam first and learn about Vietnam tourist visa validity so as to select the most appropriate visa.

Validity

Vietnam travel visa is obtainable from embassy and on arrival. In spite of different methods of issuance, it has the same validity and legitimacy. Minimum validity of tourism visa is 01 month. It’s good for a visit of less than 30 days.  If you expect to stay longer, you are able to apply for 03 months visa. Be aware that the period of validity starts from proposed date of arrival provided in application form until the visa expires and you are permitted to enter Vietnam ANYTIME during visa validity.  According to immigration regulations, a person can submit his/her application as early as 6 months prior to travel date. It’s not necessary to order the visa so early but don’t put yourself into trouble by last-minute application.  Generally, the processing time of a tourist visa application is 2 business days for visa on arrival and 5 business days for traditional visa so it’s best to submit application about 2 weeks in advance of the trip. For emergency situation, you should use fast track service to speed up process.

Single/multiple entry

The tourist visa can be issued on single or multiple entry depending on your request. A single entry allows you to come to Vietnam only one time. Once you have left Vietnam, the visa will be cancelled even if it still remains validity. A multiple entry allows you to travel to Vietnam as many times as you want without having to reapply for the visa each time.

Extension

In almost cases, it’s possible to extend the visa for 01 month or 03 months. To apply for extension, you will need to provide original passport and pay some fee. The fees are various based on type of your visa, nationality, port of entry and duration of extension.
