Vietnam visa for Australians

Before going on a trip to Vietnam, all Australian citizens must obtain a visa for Vietnam first. Nowadays, applying for a Vietnam visa is much easier than before because they could apply online instead of going directly to the embassy of Vietnam. However, Vietnam visa online is only available for Australian visitors who enter Vietnam by air. Therefore, we are offering both of 2 ways to get Vietnam visa for Australians.

1. Vietnam visa at embassy

Office hours: from 9.00AM to 5.00PM from Monday to Thursday, 9.00 to 4.30 PM on Friday, except Australian public holidays.

To get a visa for Vietnam for Australians, you have to submit the following documents:

- An original passport with one page left (the passport must remain valid at least one month after the visa expires)

- Application form with one passport-sized photo affixed on it (download the form from the website of embassy)

- A prepaid return envelop if you request to receive the passport back by post

- Visa fee in cash (only Australian dollars accepted)

- Visa authorization from Immigration Department if you request business visa. You could ask the business partner or sponsor in Vietnam to arrange it. In case you have no partners, please contact the consular section of embassy to get assistance.

After submitting all the documents, you are said to wait about 3 days to get the visa. Please double check your visa and notify the embassy as soon as you catch any errors on it.

2. Vietnam visa online: available for air entry only

The Vietnam visa on arrival process comprises 4 steps as follows:

- Complete the online application form at this link

- Pay visa service fee through online payment gateway

- Receive visa approval letter via email within 2 working days

- Get visa stamp at international airports in Vietnam (Hanoi, Danang, Ho Chi Minh)

The processing time of visa approval letter could be faster if you request urgent service (1working day) or super urgent service (4 working hours).
